Weight Loss with Energy PsychologyUse EFT or Tapping to Improve Metabolism and Achieve Weight Goals
Energy psychology can help you set goals and take the sting out of emotional hang-ups surrounding food, control, weight loss, and self-esteem issues.
According to the FDA, 50 million Americans diet each year.(1) This trend feeds a booming business in weight loss systems, exercise equipment and specialized food products that may or may not help people lose weight – mostly because there are mental and emotional factors in weight gain and loss that cannot be effectively changed using old systems. Enter "energy psychology" – the new tool to helping release fears, clear trauma, and improve performance by removing the emotional blocks to success. What is Energy Psychology?Energy psychology (or "EP") is a group of therapies that use the body's energy systems to create change on a mental or emotional level. These tools have been used to heal trauma, get over lifelong phobias, achieve goals, improve sports performance, and help people lose weight. Energy psychology is offered by some therapists and practitioners, but most forms are simple enough for laypersons to learn to use on themselves. Energy psychology uses specific points on the body to access deep emotional and mental programming. This enables us to erase old, self-defeating beliefs and introduce healthier programming. Energy psychology can be used to work at deep, unconscious levels like hypnosis does, while remaining conscious and in control of the process. Metabolic issues can be addressed with energy work, but that isn't the focus of most EP treatments. Energy psychology "explores the relationship between unresolved emotions, anxieties, fears and guilt and weight issues. It offers practical advice for identifying and resolving the root cause(s) of emotional eating and other behaviors"(1) that can interfere with weight loss. EFT or other forms of energy psychology might be helpful to you if you:
Energy psychology isn't a magic bullet for weight loss, but it can help to conquer the kinds of emotional patterns that are obstacles to weight loss success. Where Can I Learn More About Energy Psychology? There may be therapists in your area offering energy psychology - sometimes called EFT (emotional freedom technique) or by other names. You can find information on these kinds of sessions, or classes in how to use the tools yourself, on listings of alternative or holistic practitioners for your area. Online resources related to energy psychology and EFT may also be valuable to those setting out to learn more. (1) Gary's Craig's EFT Weight Loss page, accessed December 29, 2008.
